Review Overview – What does Prime Rut do?

Prime Rut is a lesser known testosterone booster from Bold Buck Nutrition.

prime-rutSold mainly on Amazon.com, this testosterone booster is claimed to:

  • Boost Testosterone
  • Burn Fat
  • Increase Libido
  • Improve Stamina

Bold claims, but does it really work?

We looked at the science behind the formulation of Prime Rut and were surprised at the results.

This is what we found:

The Servings

Verdict: Room for improvement

With two servings a day, Prime Rut will give your T-levels an okay supply of nutrients to keep improving testosterone levels, but more could be done.

Ideally you want to be looking for a T-booster that has around 3 – 4 servings a day, this ensures that your testosterone levels are constantly being supplied with the nutrients they need to progress onto greater levels.

The Ingredients

Verdict: Poor

There are two reasons we weren’t keen on the nutrient profile of Prime Rut:

  • It’s a just a Proprietary Blend
  • Mainly Libido Boosters

Proprietary Blends:

These are a range of ingredients grouped together under one value. This means we don’t know how much of each ingredient has been used, or how effective it is.

NOTE: We’ve spoken to the owner of Bold Buck Nutrition, and they claim they’re working towards removing the proprietary blend in their product. Fantastic news!

Libido boosters are all well and good, but if there are no testosterone boosters to back them up, you’re not going to get much benefit from them.

We’ve written up the most notable ingredients in Prime Rut, here’s what we found:prime-rut-supp-facts

Horny Goat Weed

Unfortunately there is no evidence or studies out there that suggests HGW improves testosterone levels.

It may however have some mild effect on your libido.

Maca

This Peruvian herb is another nutrient that falls under the libido category more than anything.

It does nothing for testosterone levels.

Mucuna Pruriens

Also known as Velvet Bean. Studies have shown this nutrient to boost free testosterone, increase growth hormone and even reduce cortisol the stress hormone.

It’s definitely the best nutrient in this product, the problem is that we don’t know how much is in Prime Rut – and therefore how much an effect it will have.

Polypodium Vulgare

A herb thought to boost testosterone when taken in large doses.

Not many studies have been done into PV but so far it has not influenced T-Cell count. It may however help boost immunity.

Yohimbe Bark

This is more for appetite suppressant, and doesn’t affect testosterone levels.

It may be good for weight loss, but there’s a problem.

Too much Yohimbe can lead to side effects – and we don’t know how much is in Prime Rut.

Saw Palmetto

Not a testosterone booster, but good for overall male health.

Saw Palmetto has been seen in numerous studies to help promote urinary flow and overall prostate health.

Muira Puama

A cognitive enhancer and strong aphrodisiac, when used in large doses (4000 – 6000mg) which is definitely a lot more than the amount in this blend.

It will not have those effects in Prime Rut, nor does it have any testosterone boosting capabilities.

Arginine

An amino acid that increases the flow of nitric oxide in the body, this can help with erections and overall blood flow.

The problem here is that arginine is hard to absorb orally. It was the wrong nutrient to use here. Citrulline would be better as it works as precursor to the arginine and increases overall circulation.

Panax Ginseng

Another libido enhancer, but this one can actually help with testosterone.

With it’s ability to regulate your blood sugar, Ginseng can lower the amount of Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) in your body.

SHBG is the protein that binds to testosterone and strips it of it’s anabolic potency, making it worthless.

With less SHBG, you have more free testosterone circulating in your body.

Again, we have to be wary though, as this is a proprietary blend it’s hard to know how effective it will be.prime-rut1

Overall Prime Rut definitely favors the libido side of male health, rather than testosterone building.

Which isn’t the best move. If you aim to boost testosterone levels, your libido will naturally follow in suit giving you the best of both worlds.

This will also help with energy and muscle tone.

Are there any Side Effects?

Potentially.

The main issue is the Yohimbe.

As it’s in a proprietary blend we have no idea of the dose, however, studies have shown doses above 0.2mg/kg body weight has cause side effects such as:

  • Headaches
  • Anxiety
  • Hypertension
  • Gastrointestinal Distress

We’d recommend steering clear of this product.

Is there anything better out there?

Definitely.

As this is mainly a libido enhancer it misses many of the core nutrients needed to boost testosterone and restore that energy you get from healthy hormone levels.

There are only a few supplements that pull this off, we’ve made a list of them and you can check them out in the link below:

Bold Buck Nutrition Prime Rut Review Conclusion

Overall this is a pretty poor T-booster.

With over-arcing focus on libido enhancement, it isn’t going to do much for your testosterone levels.

The only good ingredient in Prime Rut is the Mucuna Pruriens – however, they’re in a proprietary blend so it’s difficult to know how effective it actually is in this supplement.

However, Bold Buck claim they’re aiming to remove the proprietary blend in this product, which could change our rating.
